“Thank you for addressing the Sozo problem.  I lost my daughter to it many years ago, and I have been writing against it for years also.”

– Rick; August 3, 2019

…This Bethel cancer is spreading all over the world, and it is more dangerous than the Ebola virus could ever hope to be.”

– Leigh-Anne; August 3, 2014

“My son is a ‘student’ at Bethel this is his 2nd year. It hurts me so much to see I have lost my son to this cult…How sad this can be done to this [these] young people…I love my son but will not be falsely accused.”

– Cindy; September 9, 2019

“My son is getting sucked into this. What do we do?”

– Paige; May 19, 2018

“My son is now in his 3rd year [at Bethel] and we are distant…he came for a visit at Christmas and I felt his sadness…he came again for another visit last month which ended up bad and I asked him to leave early with his girlfriend. He is a different person [after Sozo] than the son I raised. I continue to pray for his safety and for him to see the light.”

– Lonnie; September 9, 2019

“This person interviewed is seriously concerned about the mental, emotional and spiritual health of anyone that goes through a sozo and the damage that is done and even more concerned for those who may go through a sozo that has serious or sever personality disorders.”

“The one thing that was made clear and I have been given permission to quote this person is ‘This is a spiritual rape that goes on and the pastor and the sozo team are all a part of the rape.'”

“Crazy stuff right from the training manual…they walk you through the steps of conditioning a client to believe they’ve been abused by family (they use slightly different language, but this is the outcome). It’s like they synthesize a problem only to be able to paint themselves as the heroes for delivering you.”

– “J” (Previous Sozo Trainee); October 30, 2020

“Exposing SOZO with well researched facts helps us all make better choices…Stay away from Sozo! It is not biblical [as they promise their victims]. It is new age guided imagery.”

– Jerry Dagna; August 21, 2016

“WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR RESEARCH AS WHEN PROVIDED TO OUR LEAD PASTORS THEY DECIDED TO KILL THE SOZO MINISTRY AT OUR CHURCH…GOD BLESS YOU!”

Anonymous; July 15, 2016

“Thank you for posting my article. So many are looking for help in their spiritual confusion. Blessings to you.”

Kim Olsen; May 27, 2020

“Thank you so much for this vital information! This is so blatantly not Christian [as they deceitfully claim and lie about] as are so many other facets of this ‘movement.’ Please keep the info coming!”

– Anonymous; August 25, 2012

“I DO BELIEVE IN MODERN DAYS GIFTS FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT…I ALSO BELIEVE BETHEL IS FROM THE DEVIL…SOZO IS A GUIDED NEW AGE MEDITATION CONTRIVING UP IMAGES AND MAKING YOU FOLLOW GUIDED HOCUS POCUS…IN ONE SPECIFIC STORY A FRIEND WAS TOLD TO IMAGINE JESUS IN A ROOM WITH YOUR PUPPY…”WHAT IS JESUS DOING WITH THE PUPPY?”. NONSENSE! NEW AGE TRANCE WITH GUIDED MEDITATION…ANYTIME YOU ARE IN AN EVENT THAT TELLS YOU TO CLOSE YOUR EYES…DON’T! RUN!”

– Jerry; 2018

“You confirmed my suspicions.”

– Julie; July 8, 2014

“Sozo is DANGEROUS for the believer & non!”

– Terry; September 6, 2019

“This is new age mysticism…demonic at best.”

– Calvin; March 27, 2016

An author, Oscar J. Whatmore, tells of an account (not in these exact words) of how a Bethel leader in California left his wife to come be with his wife in Europe, and he explains what happened next. • Hi there. Bethel is infecting Australian churches. I need to speak to a lady who is leading people in deliverance ministry that is similar to Sozo. Could I perhaps get some advice?

  • Is there anyone else out there whose daughter left to go to 'Bible School' at Bethel in Redding and never came home, who cut off ALL family and friends- even an 88 yr old grandmother who weeps for them?

  • Yes I do believe there are so many families suffering from this. This is a tactic of the cults. You are not alone…Bethel has done a lot of damage to families. There is hope though.

  • In my experience, this Bethel Church sozo nonsense can divide apart families. I know, it is sad, but that is what cults do. Peace to you!

  • I went to a Sozo session and it ruined my marriage and possibly my relationship with my family. This practice is not deliverance but rather hypnosis. I now know this for sure as I am now a psychology student. There was much controversy surrounding this type of practice many years ago. If you need help speak to a specialist or talk to your pastor. Avoid Sozo at all cost.

  • It's has ruined my marriage as well. My husband is under investigation and I have lost finances. This was not helpful at all. People should not be allowed to play in the minds of other people through hypnosis. The people leading the sessions are not properly trained to deal with real issues such as depression. Especially without a license.

Jesus is the true healer. Turn to him and not towards overnight schemes made by people. Some thorns are meant to stay to give us a stronger testimony. Don't get caught up in the web of deceit.

  • The comments above are right on. Sozo is a clever attempt at drawing a cult following. These Sozo victims don’t know their freedoms have been hijacked. Sozo hides behind the Bible when it contradicts it left and right. This is religious and spiritual abuse, hypnosis and trance work. Stay away from Sozo, unless you want your entire family (parents, grandparents, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, etc.) to be totally ruined!
